Renault Considering Ertiga Rival Lodgy MPV for India

We know, at this time there’s no need to explain things about Duster, thanks to its huge success and massive publicity!

Inspired by this, the French car maker Renault is contemplating getting their Lodgy MPV in India, which originally belongs to its fully owned subsidiary, Dacia.

If this 7-Seater MPV makes it to India, it’ll take the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga head-on. The launch of Ertiga has created a whole new segment in the Indian car scenario.

It’ll be relatively easy to manufacture the Lodgy a it shares so many mechanical components with the Duster. It’s expected to be powered by the Renault 1.5 diesel K9K engine, that is now the common engine for most Renault-Nissan JV products in India. However, to make it a true family car, Renault may only offer the 84 HP version of the K9K Engine. Thus, it would be more fuel efficient and less expensive at the same time. Duster’s petrol engine could be planed inside the entry-level Lodgy.

Sources say, the India-specific Lodgy would be loaded with features like  new instrument cluster, new interior color trims and rear AC Vents.

However, Renault India has kept their lips zipped about the possibility of bringing the Lodgy MPV to India, but we expect this car to be showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and hit the showrooms the same year. We also expect this car to carry a price tag between Rs. 7 – 10 Lakhs.
