SPIED: First Ever Clear Spyshots of Upcoming 2014 Punto Facelift in India

Thanks to a keen eyed reader of Indianautosblog.com, we now have a few clear spyshots of the 2014 Fiat Punto facelift for India. According to the source, the partially camouflaged test vehicle was undergoing test runs in the vicinity of the Ranjangaon manufacturing facility of Fiat India.2014-Fiat-Punto-Facelift-Spied

The vehicle was wrapped up in camouflage at the front and rear ends. It also had a dollop of camouflaging fabric on the doors. We expect the major changes to be concentrated on the front end. These will include a redesigned bumper with a new housing style for the foglights.

The headlamps will remain unchanged in shape, but they will receive a smokier tint. Similarly, the rear tail-lamps will be replaced by newer ones similar to the ones found on the just-showcased-at-Auto-Expo Fiat Avventura crossover. The facelifted Punto will also witness a repositioning of the reflectors on the rear bumper.

Fiat’s 2014 Punto will continue to be powered by the same set of engines that are present on the current model. These include the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine as well as the 1.3L Multijet diesel engine. Fiat might tweak the engines for better driveability and a bit more peppiness, or let us say ‘should’!

On the interiors, 2014 Fiat Punto is expected to possess a new central console similar to that on the refreshed Linea. The instrument cluster will be reworked, too. The facelift will be an important one for the Fiat Punto since it has failed consistently to set the cash registers ringing for the company. While competing models sell by the thousands, Punto sells only by a few hundreds per month!

Though Fiat, in its official roadmap, had stated that the Punto facelift will be launched in early 2014, it now appears that we will have to wait a wee bit more. We expect the launch to happen sometime during the middle of this year after the Linea facelift which goes into your nearest showroom this March!
