SPIED: Jaguar’s Smallest BMW 3-Series Rival Entry Level Sedan Caught Testing

Jaguar cars have a certain charisma that Audi, BMW and Mercedes can never match up to. The silver dial which comes out to change gears everytime you start up the car brings a smile to your face that no car can and that leaping panther on the bonnet is something which grabs your attention like anything. But Jaguar cars have always been out of the reach of many because of being present in higher luxury segments but all that is about to change.

Back in October 2012 we shared this news with our readers that Jaguar is working on an entry level sedan and today we have for you the first ever spy shots of a sub XF sedan which will rival the likes of the BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes C-Class. TheĀ rumorsĀ of Jaguar developing a sedan which will rival the bread and butter cars of the Germans has been doing rounds for quite a while but there was no concrete proof till date. And these pictures now talk about themselves.

From the spy shots you can easily make out that the car will borrow a lot of design cues from the XF sibling. It will have a similar design philosophy but will come with a sportier roofline, a shorter wheelbase and hence shorter doors than the XF. The exhaust pie will also have an altogether new unit and the tail lights would resemble the XF sedan.

It will be built on the Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform which will help keep the weight in check. Currently codenamed as X760, it might sport the XS moniker. It will have both petrol and diesel motors but the state of tune is yet unknown.

Well there you go, Jaguar plans to command a higher position in the luxury segment and XS will surely help the cause. Considering that the luxury car segment is booking in India and the entry level segment forms the chunk of it, we have all our eyes lit up in an eager wait for this machine.
