In an exclusive scoop, we shared spyshots of Mahindra Quanto 4×4 testing in Pune on the 1st February 2013. The car had clear give-away of 4WD at the wheels and talking further with the driver also confirmed the same.
Here are a few more spyshots of the same mule. One of these pics include a close-up shot from the rear which confirms that there are no jump seats at the back and hence this is not a 5+2 seater as we had speculated earlier because of the absence of the foot step at the rear.
This Quanto was reportedly running on Xylo’s bigger 4 cylinder mill. Another interesting bit to notice is that the UV looks to be running a lot loaded with weight at the rear. This might mean Mahindra will also be tinkering with the suspension setup of this Quanto 4×4. Anyways, they will need to be doing that to accommodate the extra weight of the bigger engine. The alloy wheels are also different from what we get in the current Quanto.
Rest everything appears to be quite similar from the pictures we have in hand. If you just jumped out of your seat in excitement, wait! Mahindra is developing this Quanto 4 Wheel Drive, predominantly for international markets. It has already been spotted testing in Brazil. However, considering the developments in India, we do expect Mahindra to launch Quanto 4X4 here in India to take on the upcoming Duster 4×4 and the other compact UVs in this segment.
