SPIED: Next-Gen Figo Spotted in India First Time; Launch in 2015

So here it is, right in front of your eyes – the first ever roaming proof of Ford’s next car launch in India – the Next-Gen Figo hatchback. Ford unveiled their next-gen Figo in India in its compact sedan form just before the Auto Expo.

Both the cars, the next-gen hatchback and its sedan have already been launched in Brazil under the name of ‘Ka’ and ‘Ka+’and this interesting spy pic, courtesy Autocar, confirms that the company has started testing at least the hatchback in India. This mule is running with a camouflaged rear and front and will be launched in India sometime next year, possibly within the first half.

This next-gen Figo is expected to completely replace the current Figo, which has started to look and feel dated. However, there is a possibility that Ford may do a ‘classic’ by keeping the current Figo as a more utilitarian entry level variant and launching this next-gen car with a new 1.0L petrol engine, a derivative of the EcoBoost petrol without the turbocharger and the 1.5L diesel engine. This will give them the opportunity and the justification to keep it at a little premium over the current variant.

Along with this hatchback, Ford will also launch the new Figo sedan which will be a sub 4 meter compact car aimed at the Zest, Dzire and Amaze of our market. Since they have started testing the hatchback first, it may come here earlier than its sibling sedan. Apart from this, Ford also has the next-gen Endeavour SUV lined up for a show again sometime next year.
