After creating a big stir till the D-segment in India, Hyundai has turned all its attention towards the mid-sized SUV segment and has the Fortuner on its crosshairs.
That they are preparing the new Santa Fe for our market is known for long, but this is a new mule spotting that has surfaced over the web. Spotted in Chennai by rahuldevnath, a member of Team-BHP.com, these shots could be labelled as the most-revealing spyshots of the upcoming SUV.
As mentioned, yes..the new Santa Fe looks butch and appears to have a very good road presence. After all it has to compete with the hulk- Fortuner! rahuldevnath says that he drove with this mule for more than 80kms and it was maintaining constant speeds of 80-90kmph, a possibility of it being tested for fuel efficiency.
With these pics, it also gets cleared that they are production-ready mules with name, brand and trim badges all snapped onto them, obviously hidden.
With the new Santa Fe, Hyundai has some real serious plans starting with a very aggressive price tag which we expect to start at around Rs 20-22 Lakhs ex-showroom in Delhi. New Santa Fe will continue with the 2.2L VGT diesel engine which currently churns out 197PS of power output and an impressive 420Nm of torque. Will there be any changes to these specs we are unsure but Hyundai will definitely better the driveability as well as fuel efficiency of the SUV.
Launch of the new Hyundai Santa Fe is scheduled for 6th of February at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi and we are keenly looking forward to it.
