No matter how much Volkswagen denies the Up! for India but we have a strong feeling that they are testing the car for us, Indians!
After our exclusive encounter a few days back, we spot a regular 5-door Up! again in Pune. The Up! being tested by Volkswagen on the streets of Pune definitely looks to be a price-cut, India specific model. The interiors are all smart-black. There are no power windows even at the front. The front dashboard is all plane and basic.
Up! sitting under the Polo makes immense sense and would provide Volkswagen to play the volumes game pitting the car against the likes of WagonR and others in this segment.
The car doesn’t look as spacious but definitely can trade at a slight premium or expanse of a few features, being from the house of the Germans. We shared with you how safe a car the Up! is as it received a 5-star rating from ANCAP. We also know Volkswagen is testing the Up! in Brazil as well and we definitely see it coming to India…..only the time frame needs to be seen!
