The 12th edition of Desert Storm rally saw Team Mahindra Adventure finish fastest and become the overall champions of Desert Storm 2014. The ‘Super XUV500’ driven by Sunny Sidhu and P.V.S. Murthy finished 1st in the Xtreme category of this year’s edition of Desert Storm.
Sunny Sidhu (Driver) & PVS Murthy (Co-driver) and the ‘Super XUV500’ have under their belt multiple Desert Storm and Indian National Rally Championship SUV category (INSUVRC) wins. Incidentally, the ‘Super XUV500’ is the first ever diesel vehicle to have won the Desert Storm rally.
The Desert Storm rally has stages and terrain ranging from desert stretches and vast salt flats to dirt tracks. This year the rally route ran for over 3000kms across locations like Sadarseher, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jaipur. In all, there were 55 teams in Xtreme category, 30 teams in Ndure and 20 teams in Xplore category.
In the 11th edition of the Desert Storm, year 2013, Team Mahindra Adventure bagged the 2nd, 3rd & 4th places. Team Mahindra Adventure functions as an umbrella brand showcasing the off-roading capabilities of Mahindra vehicles. Their calendar comprises of a series of events throughout the year such as the Great Escape, Multi-Day Escapes, such as the Monastery Escape (10 days) & Royal Escape (6 days), the Tri-Nation Escape (Bhutan, India & Nepal- 14 days), Authentic Goa (4 days) & Wild Escape (5days).
