Suzuki Alivio (India’s Ciaz) Spied Uncamouflaged

It was raining that day, only a bit though, the wintery chill was in its prime. We were all on our edges for having woken up very early in the morning in order to reach Greater Noida in time, after all it was to be the first day of the Auto expo.

And what a brilliant surprise Maruti Suzuki had in store for us to wake us with our eyes wide open! A brilliant looking car, or let us say concept, which left me asking myself whether I am at the right stall or not… 😉

The SX4 had been scoring some good volumes during the initial few days of its launch, but with the number of grey hair growing on its scalp, its sales figures took a continuous downward stumble. The Ciaz is meant to be a replacement for the SX4.

The mid-size sedan segment is ruled by the City and the Verna and if this is what it is going to look like, there is soon going to be a major shake-up. The Ciaz was then later showcased in a more production ready version at the recently concluded Beijing Motor Show, which the parent company Suzuki referred to as the Alivio. Both the versions look pretty much the same with only minute changes being done to the design cues, like a little less amount of chrome being used in the fog lamp cluster etc.

And now, for the first time uncamouflaged spy shots of the production ready model have been clicked and published at Carnewschina.com. The car was caught testing in China, where it is expected to be launched by September. The engine options in China shall be a 1.6L petrol producing a respectable 120HP and 1.4L producing 100HP. The car is expected to be priced around 90,000 yuan (Rs 8.65lac) to 1,40,000 yuan (Rs 13.46lac).

The 4.5m long car is expected to be feature loaded and frankly speaking it looks smashing good! Back in India, Maruti is preparing the Ciaz for a showdown sometime around the similar time and we had its first ever uncamouflaged spyshots way back in August last year. Check them here.
