SX4 Axed; Ciaz Launch Before the Festive Season

Ciaz is one of the most talked-about upcoming cars in India and fans across the country have real hopes from this relatively-posh C-segmenter from Maruti Suzuki.

In a new snippet at Financial Express, we have learnt that the outgoing SX4 is no longer produced by Maruti and is all set to be replaced by the Ciaz. The new car will be bigger, hopefully better and more aspirational. Although Maruti has refused to confirm anything officially, the Ciaz is strongly rumoured to hit the streets before the festive season this year.

The SX4 had been Maruti’s only made in India premium product, the Grand Vitara and Kizashi being CBUs. Maruti has seen very good volumes in the compact car segment but has always failed to get the desired customer response from its premium products. The company aims to change this with Ciaz.

Maruti is re-entering the mid-size sedan segment with great hopes aiming to improve its performance which saw a decline of nearly 11 per cent in April. But with New City scorching the sales charts, Verna keeping a close second, going will not be easy for Ciaz. And if they continue with the 1.3L Multijet diesel engine, Maruti may loose out on a golden opportunity they have built up.

Ciaz has been spied many a times. Here is an exclusive pic

The Ciaz was recently spied in China (where it is known as Alivio) as a near production ready model. The car looks interestingly large and we hope Maruti will not disappoint this time!
