AMT or Automated Manual Transmission is the ‘in’ thing these days. First introduced in a passenger car by Maruti (on Celerio), the company has now two models on offer and both of them have been received very well and are running on high waiting periods.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Celerio at the Auto Expo in February this year and the demand for the car since then has been real high. Being the first Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) passenger car in the country, Maruti expected an average demand for the AMT version.
Just a few days back we had informed all our readers that Maruti is preparing the new Alto K10 for its launch in the days to come and voila, the word in the house is that the company has showcased the car during some concert in Chandigarh, revealing the car in total!
While we are not really sure of September 16 launch of ‘new’ Swift that we talked about yesterday, another interesting bit has reached us. While it may seem a bit surprising but what we heard from our sources is that Swift may get an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) rather than the expected conventional automatic transmission.
