Tata Zest Launched at Rs 4.64 Lakhs; Prices, Variants & Details Inside [Brochure Updated]

Tata Motors has finally launched its much awaited compact sedan Zest, in a glistening ceremony in Mumbai, and the stage is now all set for a major battle to unfold in the country’s one of the largest selling segment. Tata has very conveniently priced the Zest in the range of Rs 4.64 lakhs to Rs 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Engine:

The Zest has been launched with two engines, the new 1.2L Revotron, producing 90PS of power @5000rpm and a maximum torque of 140Nm in the range of 1750 to 3500 rpm. This turbocharged MPFi engine with Shift on the Fly technology (thus allowing it to have three drive modes), is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission.

The diesel is the familiar 1.3L Multijet sourced from Fiat, which Tata labels as Quadrajet. This is available in two power trims (yes!):

  • The first being the expected 90PS variant which Tata has showcased everywhere. The car produces is maximum power @4000rpm and the peak torque of 200Nm is available in the rev range of 1750 to 3000rpm. This one even gets a 5 speed AMT version (which Tata calls F-Tronic), along with the regular 5 speed manual.
  • The second is a slightly lower powered version without a Variable Geometry Turbocharger. This trim sees a peak power output of 75PS @4000rpm and a peak torque of 190Nm @1750-3000rpm. This engine though comes only with a regular 5 speed manual transmission.

Tata Motors have gone on to claim a fuel efficiency of 17.6kmpl (ARAI figure) for their all new petrol engine.
