What started as a dream project is now turning out to be a damp squib, literally. With Nano not being able to utilize even half of its production capabilities, Tata is looking at ways to make it a more luring prospect.
Apart from others, it is making the car more attractive in terms of offerings and project it as a smart utility city car. And it seems, the end results are coming out in smaller packets. We have seen an improved Nano CNG emax which was launched in October this year.
And the next pause comes just next month! If a Tweet from Rohin Nagrani, Senior Editor at BS Motoring, is to be believed, Tata will launch the long-awaited Nano with a power steering by mid of January 2014, which is barely a month later.
No more details are shared but it will be an interesting move and we are inquisitive to know if it will be an additional higher variant which will get one or will it be on the existing ‘LX’ and/or ‘CX’ variants of the car.
We have seen a lot of prospect customers considering a small car leaving out Nano just because of the absence of a power steering which, in today’s times, has become a basic feature in a car. Its introduction is definitely expected to better Nano’s convenience and driving characteristics in city traffics.
Moreover, since Tata is expected to launch one, we also expect more changes/additions to the car. Another one being the possibility of the introduction of the rear-openable hatch which has been spotted earlier in some spyshots of Nano diesel.
Apart from this, Tata will be launching the diesel version of Nano by end of March 2014. Nano diesel with a power steering and fuel efficiency of a motorcycle will one of the most interesting cars to watch out this year.
Its a lot cooking up at Tata and the company is desperate to make Nano a hit. Well, its a potent product, just a few tidbits here and there and who knows it may challenge the Alto for supremacy in sales figures! But for that, Tata has to do a lot of groundwork!
