OFFICIAL: Tata Zest Dealer-Billing Starts Today! Reaching Dealerships Within Few Days

Tata Motors has officially commenced the online bookings of its Zest sedan where you can pre-book your car at a nominal price. But the question is when is the car reaching your local dealerships?

And here we bust the official information coming to us from one of our sources. Tata will start with dealer-billings of Zest from today ie 23rd of June. That simply means that…

  • the car will reach your local dealers soon, most probably within this month and
  • Zest will be launched anytime from now till first half of August.

This is no speculation and in fact, is an officially communicated information. Exact launch date has still been kept a secret and on the same (launch) day Tata will share the prices and variant information. Prior to its launch Tata is already running the Revotron engine campaign and have started with its pre-launch activities.

If you are considering buying one, all you need to do is an advance payment of Rs 21,000 at Zest’s official website through any of the usual online payment modes. Tata Motors, this time, has organised its campaign very swiftly and desirably so. From the contest on twitter to the unveiling of Revotron labs; from the media test drives to the online booking – everything was done in an amazingly quick succession that allowed Tata Motors to keep the interest alive of potential buyers and media alike.

Okay, so you may have already noticed the underlying reference to the Zest’s competition in the preceding text, but the fact is that our hands are already itching to do a comparo!

For starters, Zest will come with a choice of two engines, a diesel and a petrol. The diesel is the same, Fiat-sourced, 1.3-litre Multijet unit that does duty in the Vista, but in the Zest it channelizes power through an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Of course, a 5-speed manual is also on offer but it is the former that would make for the cheapest automatic sedan in the country. The diesel Zest produces 90PS at 4,000 rpm while 200 Nm of torque is available between 1,750-3,000 rpm. There are speculations that Tata may also launch the Zest in 75PS FGT tune.

The 1.2-litre turbocharged ‘Revotron’ petrol unit also produces 90PS, but at a higher 5,000 rpm, and impressive 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox (only).

Zest is the most important product for Tata and they need to price the car to perfection to make a defying blow in the market.
