Tiago will be launched within this financial year..
Tata Motors has officially announced the new name for their upcoming hatchback. Changing the name Zica, the car would now be called as Tiago. The company has also confirmed that Tiago will be launched by the end of March 2016. The previous name Zica (derived from ‘Zippy Car’) had to be changed due to its similarity to a virus spreading its terror in the West.
The company had recently started a contest on its social media accounts, asking fans from India as well as the rest of the world to vote for a new name. The three final entries opened for public voting were Tiago, Civet and Adore. Over a time period of three days 48 million enthusiasts engaged with the brand on its social networking sites and Tata informs that 37,000 car lovers submitted their suggestions.

We are proud to announce the new name Tiago for our next new hatchback. We have begun working towards launching this stylish car and are determined to place it in the market addressing all relevant needs of the target audience.”

Using the new IMPACT design philosophy, Tiago has been designed with inputs from teams in Pune, UK and Italy. Tata also informs that they have applied for the necessary regulatory registrations and has plans to launch it by the end of March 2016.
