Toyota has started shipping their entry level sedan Etios and the B2 hatchback Etios Liva to the markets of South Africa from India.
The first consignment of 247 Etios was shipped from Ennore Port, Chennai which was flagged by Karnataka Home and Transport Minister R Ashoka and Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani.
On this moment, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Vice Chairman Vikram Kirloskar said, “It is a proud moment for all of us in Toyota Kirloskar Motor as we flag off the first ever Etios export consignment to South Africa. As we begin a new chapter of business with the start of the exports, I would like to express my gratitude to all our employees”
It was also informed that the petrol cars have been slightly modified to cater to the South African market. Toyota also informed that as for now they are only targeting South Africa for exports and have plans to export 20,000 units annually.
