After India and markets like Brazil, Toyota Etios is all set to set foot in the Chinese car market. In India we have seen a moderate success of the cheapest Toyota car, and the same way, it is also going to be the cheapest Toyota in China too. Etios is expected to be priced around 65,000 Yuan (~Rs. 5.64 Lakhs) in China.
Toyota is planning to manufacture Etios under both its JV in China, FAW – Toyota JV and Guangzhou – Toyota JV. In China, Etios is supposed to lock horns to Chevrolet Sail which sells for around 60,000 Yuan (~Rs. 5.2 Lakhs).
According to Reuters, Toyota dealers were deprived of an affordable small car since many years. Now, the Etios will help them boost the sales. Besides, Toyota had applied for patents on their Etios sedan and hatch back in August 2010.
As of now, we don’t have the complete information on the variants that would be launched in China. Stay tuned as we try to find it out…
