Toyota Launches New Variants VD & VDsp for Etios Liva; Priced at Rs 6.72 and 7.12 Lacs

If you like your hatchback in diesel, Toyota has introduced 2 new trim levels for its diesel hatchback Etios Liva, first noted by Team-BHP.com. Of course, you pay more for the goodies and the new VD and VDSP, as the new models are called, cost INR 6,72,000 and INR 7,12,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Until recently, Liva diesel was available in JD and GD variants. With the addition of these new VD and VDSP models Toyota has tried to offer high end features similar to the petrol version of the Liva.

The more expensive VD and VDSP Liva features front fog lamps, double chrome front grille, rear wiper and washer, 12-spoke alloy wheels, chrome embellishment on the boot and turn indicators on the ORVMs.

The interiors for these higher end models have leather-wrapped steering wheel and steering mounted audio controls, tachometer, dual-tone interiors, door armrests with wood grain finish, a chrome gearshift knob, a rear defogger, and a Bluetooth-compatible audio system. More importantly, the VD and VDSP have enhanced safety features like dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

Engine and power output remains unchanged and these 2 models have the frugal (Toyota claims 23.59 Kmpl) 1364 cc, 4-cylinder D-4D diesel engine generating about 67 bhp and peak torque of 170 Nm. Transmission is manual with 5 speeds.

Sounds like a good move by Toyota. They introduced the refreshed Liva in March this year which carried a lot of betterments to the car (More Details). We like the Liva for its practicality and space along with its sure-footedness. But if you are the type who like a bit of pep in your hatchback, stick with the petrol variant. It provides 80 bhp under your right foot. And more bling can be had with the 90PS 1.5L Etios Liva TRD.
