TRAGIC! Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Slym Dies in Bangkok

In one of the most tragic news received last night, Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Slym has passed away in Bangkok. He was present there to attend a Tata Motors Thailand board meeting.

The reason cited for his untimely death is his high fall from his hotel where he was staying. Incidentally, he was about to check out from his room where he was putting up for almost a week. Whole industry is in a state of shock after hearing Karl’s tragic death news. Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry also expressed his shock and deepest condolences to his family.

After leaving General Motors, Karl Slym joined Tata Motors in October 2012 at a time when the company was going through one of its roughest phases ever. Karl took up the challenge and was working in day in and day out to change the fortunes of what was labelled as a ‘sick’ company by many.

The fruits of his good-doings were about to be unravelled at the Auto Expo and the times to come, however he is no more to witness and cherish them.

Under his leadership Tata launched the latest Horixonext strategy which includes new products, product facelifts, updates and betterments. Power Steering equipped Nano Twist, upcoming Falcon 4 & Falcon 5 are his masterstrokes.

I have not met Karl Slym personally but whatever I have known of him, he was a very able leader and one who had a lovely sense of humour and a capability to change Tata’s fortunes. I, with the whole team of MotorBash.com, express our condolences to Karl Slym’s family and pray God gives them courage to stand up to these times of grief.

Rest in Peace!
