SPIED: Upcoming Alleged Celerio Diesel Mule Spotted on Video

Looks like the testing of Celerio diesel is in full swing and Maruti Suzuki is doing all it can to make the car production-ready. In the latest update, an alleged diesel mule of Celerio was spied yet again by the folks at Gaadiwaadi.com.

This time, they have snapped a moving mule on video. This appears to be the same car which they have snapped stationary a few days back. Hear the intensity of diesel clatter in the video. Lowering it is the biggest challenge for the company and they are working on it day in and day out as per our sources.

In addition to the current 1.0L K-Series petrol engine, Maruti is planning to launch Celerio with their smallest 0.8L diesel engine. This diesel engine will be Maruti’s first indegeniously built diesel motor and will first go to their first commercial vehicle Y9T, exclusive spyshots of which MotorBash has shared a few days back (here).

It is a two cylinder turbochared engine which produces a power output of about 38PS and returns fuel efficiency figures of 27kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient car in the market, if it arrives here that is!

Hearing that sound gives us goosebumps and we are skeptical if Maruti will be able to reduce them considerably (to acceptable levels) till early next year, which is when it is touted to go on sale.

Once and if this small diesel engine is ready for the market to be plonked onto passenger cars, we can expect a deluge of diesel powered cars in the A and B1 hatchback segment from Maruti.
