List & Details of all 4 Upcoming Cars from Tata in 2014

Tata Motors has been going through a turbulent phase for quite some time now. With four different CEOs in eight years, Tata Motors has seen its market share take a steep downward slide.

The untimely death of Mr. Karl Slym has been a big hindrance in the way ahead and search for a successor has been futile. The company has planned to invest 1,500 crore rupees in its passenger vehicle business in the financial year 2013-14, half of which is to go for developing new products. Tata has also decided to launch 8 to 10 all-new products before the end of the decade.

After launching the refreshed Aria very recently, Tata’s best is yet to come! Here is a list of all 4 upcoming cars from them within this year 2014.

1. Tata Zest: Cheapest auto diesel sedan in India

  • Launch: August 2014
  • Price: Rs 4.5-7.5 Lakhs

As we already know by now, Tata’s new compact sedan Zest is one of the most important and interesting products in the making. Test mules have been spotted with complete camouflage and surprisingly, with a different and more trendy grille (here).

Tata has already announced that Zest will come with an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) box on the diesel variant. It will be powered by the 1.3L Multijet diesel engine as well as the newly developed 1.2L Revotron turbocharged petrol motor. The diesel AMT will make the Zest the cheapest automatic diesel sedan in the country.

2. Tata Bolt: Comprehensive makeover on Vista

  • Launch: September 2014
  • Price: Rs 4.0-6.5 Lakhs

Hatchback Bolt will come with sporty interiors as revealed by a few of our exclusive spyshots (here). Bolt is a fresh new attempt by Tata to bell the B2 segment in India which is the largest seller in our country. Both Zest and Bolt are Tata’s hope for survival. With peppy and sharp exteriors and technology laden interiors, both these cars have managed to raise quite some noise.

And if Narain Karthikeyan’s words are to be believed, these cars will be unlike any Tata has produced so far. Bolt will also get the 1.3L multijet diesel and the 1.2l Revotron petrol motors.

3. Tata Movus: A wee bit more than Grande

  • Launch: Anytime
  • Price: Rs ~7 Lakhs

MotorBash was the first to reveal the new name as well as spyshots of the upcoming Movus which is coming to replace the Sumo Grande and compete against the likes of Mahindra Xylo and Ashok Leyland Stile. It will be powered by the same 2.2L DICOR engine which does duty in the Sumo Grande.

It can be expected to be priced competitively, somewhere over the Sumo Gold but cheaper than the Grande. The UV is rumoured to get a new turbocharger and a fuel delivery system, aiming to improve both fuel economy and performance. Expect it to make way sometime soon into our markets.

4. Tata Nano Automatic: Cheapest Automatic car in the country

  • Launch: End 2014
  • Price: ~Rs 2.5 Lakhs

The Nano F-Tronic, as we reported earlier this month, is the company’s hope to get the Nano selling. Premiered at the Delhi Auto Expo, the car seems to be pretty attractive and will get a new AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) Gearbox. It is essentially the country’s cheapest auto gear shift car in the making.

Powered by the same two cylinder 624cc engine, Nano F-Tronic AMT will output 38bhps and 51Nm in terms of specs. It is expected to be the last car coming from Tata’s portfolio this year, by the end of 2014.

All Details & Spyshots of Nano

Apart from Movus, all the cars listed here have a lot of potential of making it for Tata. There have been a lot of promises and quality-tightening measures by the company and everything will be unearthed after the Zest and Bolt make way in our markets.

  2. Tata needs to launch the Sumo 4×4, the one that was displayed at the Auto Expo 2014. The Sumo Gold is still a better vehicle in terms of stability and robust suspension as compared to the Mahindra Scorpio; just that the Sumo Gold needs a few more horses and an ABS/EBD package.
