New Updates on Volkswagen’s Upcoming Sub 4 Meter Sedan

The compact sedan and the compact SUV segments have become two of the biggest volume movers in the country, growing at market-leading paces. In the last story we understood that Volkswagen is considering launching sub 4 meter sedan in Indiawhich would either be based on the Vento or they may launch a sub-4 meter Up!

Here is a new update on the project(s) by Economic Times. They have talked about the upcoming cars but have not mentioned specifically anywhere whether the pertinent information is about the compact SUV or the compact sedan. Since the pics they have used feature a sedan, we believe that is what they meant.

As it has been reported earlier, Volkswagen has been working on a new compact sedan for quite some time. The project code named ‘VW 2512’ has apparently moved from consideration stage to final stage of approval for a sub 4 metre sedan.

Volkswagen is soon going to reach out to vendors for quotations for sourcing the components required in the project. If all things go according to plan then the car can be expected to be launched by 2016.

Elaborating further, the report also clears that the project which was initially meant only for India will now encompass other developing nations as well, with an aim of a sales target of roughly 50,000 units in a year. Hinduja group’s Defiance Technologies is believed to be working on the design of the car.

The report also talks about a compact SUV from the Volkswagen’s stables but isn’t the Taigun a sub 4 meter and a high Indian probable…?
