Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan and Tiguan are two interesting prepositions…
Volkswagen India, in an official confirmation, has confirmed that they will be bringing not one but three new products at the Auto Expo next month. The most important of this being the Indian compact Sedan referred to as ICS (codename). Others include the Passat GTE as a preview to the upcoming new Passat and the Tiguan!
The German brand has been marred by controversies globally in 2015 but wants to make a fresh start in the new year with renewed vigour. The sub 4 metre compact sedan which may be called as Ameo according to speculations, has been designed specifically for the Indian market and claims to boast of high safety standards. It will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune and claims to have several class leading features. It was caught testing recently and carries a small protruding third box (spyshots here).
The Passat GTE, the plug in hybrid version of the premium sedan, gets a 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine producing 156 PS of maximum power. With the electric motor the total output goes up to 218 PS. It also boasts of a combined range of 1,000 km and while in all-electric mode it has a coverage of 50 km. The company adds that the Passat GTE will be a precursor to the new Passat which will soon be launched in India.
The third new unveiling in the list is the SUV Tiguan. The 4×4 claims to be an ideal mixture of luxury, handling, safety and efficiency. We believe it will be placed in the Fortuner-Santa Fe levels.
Apart from this, Volkswagen will also be showcasing the recently launched Beetle and the existing line-up comprising of the Jetta, Vento, Polo and Cross Polo.
