Volkswagen Ameo, the German car maker’s first sub 4-metre sedan is finally available at a price of Rs 6.33 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Before this compact sedan was available only with a petrol mill. Putting safety on the forefront, the car gets ABS and dual front airbags as standard fitment across all trim levels.
Powering the Ameo diesel is the 1.5 litre four pot TDI diesel mill which churns out 110 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque peaking in the range of 1,500 to 3,000 rpm. Transmission options include the 7 speed DSG and a 5-speed manual. The DSG version claims a fuel economy of 21.73 kmpl.
The Ameo diesel, like the petrol versions also gets several first in class features. Some of these include:
- Static cornering lights
- Cruise control
- Rain sensing wipers
- Anti-pinch windows
- Front armrest
The DSG version also gets two more safety features, Electronic Stabilisation Program and Hill hold control. Other features include a rear-view camera with parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment system with 4 speakers, rear ac vents, auto AC with dust and pollen filter.

- Trendline (manual): Rs 6,33,600
- Comfortline (manual): Rs 7,35,150
- Comfortline (DSG): Rs 8,50,150
- Highline (manual): Rs 8,16,900
- Highline (DSG): Rs 9,31,900
In comparison, the petrol version, available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox, start at Rs 5.24 lakhs and go up to Rs 7.06 lakhs (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
