In the year 2011, people saw a bash from Volkswagen at the Frankfurt Motor Show, showcasing different types of concept cars, based on the Up! One of those were a rugged version of the Up! Namely Cross Up!, it looks more like an hard utility vehicle than a regular small car. The same concept models were displayed in different colors at the Geneva Motor Show this year.
Now, carscoop has presented an undeniable evidence that the company is seriously on its way to manufacture the Cross Up! a production model. Their spy photographers have managed to snap some clear and uncamouflaged photographs of the car. The car is bigger than the actual city car and comes with better ground clearance.
However, the heart will be identical to the smaller Up! The 60 PS and 75 PS 3-Cylinder Petrol Engines will power all the models based on the Up! The production model of the Cross-Up! could be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
Back in India, we have caught the Up! testing in Pune a couple of times. Its not really very clear if Up! would come to India anytime soon but if it does, we do wish VW considers this small Cross-Up! as well.
