Amidst all the speculations of more powerful variants of Polo, Volkswagen has launched a new trim of the existing Polo hatch, called Polo SR, where SR stands for Sports Racer.
Now don’t get excited with that tag, all the changes and updates are purely cosmetic! The Polo SR was made public at the 2012 Autocar Performance Show in Mumbai. It seems that the German market study has resulted in positive and they came up with the Polo SR.
Now, let’s have a look at what the Polo SR has to offer:
- Front, Rear and Side skirts
- Rear roof spoiler
- Chrome tip on exhaust
- 15-Inch alloy wheels
- SR Badge on the C-Pillar and below the Polo badge
The cosmetic tweaks are limited on the exterior of the car and there’s no upgradation/alteration on the interior. As for engine options, the polo SR is only available with the 1.2-Liter Petrol variant and with the Highline trim. For the Polo SR you will have to shell out Rs. 6.14 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
Among cars with diesel and petrol options, Polo is a decent performer with a fairly good ratio and Volkswagen intends to promote the petrol model further by this SR edition.
Volkswagen is also expected to launch the Polo 1.6 GTD, powered by the 1.6-Liter diesel mill which currently powers up the Vento.
