Not too long ago, no one would have believed that Volvos would look this good! Be it the V40 (especially in red) or the S60 (red again please) or even the XC60 – each of these cars look second to none in their respective segments.
Volvo has now gone one step further and given ‘R-Design’ treatment to the S60 and XC60. And mind you, it’s not just a cosmetic upgrade that we are talking about here – Volvo claims that in the R-Design cars the steering has gotten sharper and the cars have become more agile too. That is something we can only comment upon after a proper road-test…
That being said, what remains undebatable at the outset is the addition of a new engine. Both variants come equipped with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit producing 180 bhp and 400 Nm torque. Plus, you get an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters behind the wheel.
On the outside, the front and rear bumpers have become more muscular and the wheels have now grown in size too – they are 18-inchers in the R-Design package. Chrome exhaust tips, a prominent diffuser at the rear, R-Design badges on the front grille and at the rear, and silver-painted wing mirrors complete the changes on the exterior. On the inside, you get heated front seats and sporty stitching on them, and new music and satellite navigation systems.
The Volvo S60 and XC60 with the new R-Design package are priced at INR 39.36 lakh and INR 50 lakh (approx.) in New Delhi.
