A true example of what you will miss if you are not tuned to us regularly! MotorBash readers were the first ones to see exclusive spyshots of a revised Nissan Evalia which was caught ARAI testing in Pune back in February this year. (Link to Direct Article)

Back then, we spotted a revised Nissan Evalia with rear wipers running around with “On Test ARAI (Govt of India)” ticker. For the first time readers, Nissan launched their Evalia MPV without a few essential features like rear wiper, rear defogger, steering mounted controls etc.

The speculation which is ripe in the current Indian auto media is that Nissan has put the production of Evalia on hold temporarily due to lackluster sales. Team-Bhp reports that Evalia has been received pretty badly by the generic crowd as well as the cab owners with average monthly sales of just 200 units for the last half year. This has been done to help Nissan avoid inventory pile-up as well as to get get rid of the current stock.

In essence, it is being speculated that Nissan will launch a revised Evalia with the introduction of some basic features that the car lacks in the Indian context. This speculation takes us directly to the Nissan Evalia test mule that we talked about earlier. It is certain that such a revised Evalia is on the cards and ARAI testing means, its nearer that what we expect.

Revised Evalia is speculated to carry the following changed:

  • Conventional sliding windows from the current butterfly type ones
  • Conventional placement of the AC
  • Possible introduction of captain seats etc

In addition to this, important features like:

  • Rear Wiper & Defogger
  • Steering Mounted Controls
  • Day/Night Mirrors

After the introduction of Chevrolet Enjoy at shattering prices, things have become even more difficult for Evalia. We strongly feel, Nissan will also have to do some price correction along with a proper marketing push to ensure Evalia some traction on the sales charts.
