Its a funny turn of events! According to a report published at My Republica, a Nepalese news portal, Ford will launch the EcoSport in Nepal by Mid-June.
Funnier is the fact that it is built and exported from our shores! The next question is: Will India get the EcoSport before Nepal? Though, through an official word, we know that EcoSport will be launching in India this month, however, there are no concrete dates to look upto. There was a recent speculation of 11th June as the Indian launch date, however, when we tried to contact our sources, we were told that it might NOT be 11th June!
Nonetheless, like India, Nepal will also get all the three variants of EcoSport – 1.0L EcoBoost petrol, 1.5L Ti-VCT Petrol and the 1.5L Diesel. Ford will also launch the 6-speed powershift transmission EcoSport in Nepal along with the regular 5-speed manual transmission cars. Go Automobiles is the official distributor of EcoSport in our neighboring country and says that there have been a lot of customer queries and the response seems to be pretty high.
It says that the vehicles will arrive in Kathmandu within a few days and the final deliveries will begin towards the end of June. The article further says that EcoSport is expected to be priced around 3.5 million Nepali Rupees which equates to close to 22 Lakh INR!
Let’s wait for an official confirmation from Ford India on EcoSport’s Indian launch. What our sources tell us is that the launch is ‘around‘ these days!
