Xcent Receives 11,000 Bookings in 30 Days; Still Behind Amaze & Dzire

Hyundai Motor India Limited has become one of the major names in the Indian automotive scene with the help of right products in the fast moving segments.

Their latest salvo, the Xcent compact sedan is already being predicted as a hit. The 1,00,000+ enquiries but more importantly 11,000 bookings which the company managed to receive in just 30 days since its launch is a living proof of the brands popularity in the Indian minds.

The Xcent has managed to hit its target audience as it wished, with maximum enquiries coming from the young families in metro and tier 2 cities. Hyundai has also started taking steps to meet the growing demand by increasing its operational proficiency.

The car has been received well by the first time buyers thanks to its interesting feature list like rear air conditioning vents, 2DIN music system, rear parking sensors, push button start and stop, indicators on ORVMs and cooled glove box.

The price war which Hyundai has started has made the compact sedan segment in the country really interesting. The launch of Tata Zest might be a threat to the Xcent based on what Tata has been claiming so far. The Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire are doing fantastically well, in fact better!

Comparison of initial sales with Amaze & Dzire

No matter how good this figure looks like but Xcent still stands at the bottom of the ladder when we talk about first-time interests. Here are some quick stats which will make it clearer:

  • Dzire registered bookings of 20,000 units in 18-20 days of launch
  • Amaze bettered with 22,000+ bookings within 3 weeks of launch

So, clearly, when we consider these figures, Xcent does appear to be lagging but we know how deep Hyundai is penetrated in India and how well they know to sell their cars. The playground is going to get even hotter with players like Volkswagen and Nissan also being reported to be working on compact sedans.
