When was the last time you heard that a particular Tata car/SUV is doing well? Frankly speaking, it would be many months back! However, 2014 is meant to change all of that with Tata’s Zest and Bolt!
When Tata showcased the Zest and the Bolt for the first time, just days before the Auto Expo, the company literally took everyone by surprise! They probably were (and are) the best looking Tata’s yet (apart from the classy concepts they usually come up with) and they are penning a lot of hopes on them.
So, after a long wait, we have got the booking figures for Zest and we must say, the number is fairly impressive! Launched about 20 days back, Zest has clocked more than 10,000 bookings according to Economic Times. This has led to a rise of waiting period!
If you want to buy a Zest with the new 1.2L Revotron engine, you will have to wait for at least 4 to 6 weeks. The Diesel with the AMT is facing even stronger waiting periods, something in the range of 3 months! This is indeed a big news for Tata as they are up against three of the largest selling cars in the country, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
First Bookings of Dzire, Amaze and Xcent
The question is: How does this compare with the initial responses for Dzire, Amaze and Xcent? For the records, Hyundai Xcent secured 11,000 bookings in the first 30 days while the Honda Amaze registered more than 22,000 bookings in the first three weeks since its launch.
The current segment leader, Dzire saw 20,000 units being booked in the first 18-20 days since its launch. This proves that Zest has been accepted really well in the market, in fact better than Hyundai’s Xcent! Only that, it has to continue the momentum in the longer run…
With the Bolt coming this year along with Nano OTG and Safari Storme facelift, things do look bright for Tata.
