In the month of August, the first whispers of Toyota’s 90 hp version of Etios Liva started making way. Now in a build up to it, Economic Times reports that Toyota will be launching this Hot Hatch pretty soon!
This powerful Liva will borrow the 1.5-Liter heart from Etios sedan, along with some new exciting makeovers:
Toyota has made it clear that for the coming 3 years, they will not be launching any new car and instead will focus on the current models, especially Etios and Liva. So the 90 BHP Liva seems to be the first step towards their future plannings.
This new Hot Hatch segment is getting interesting and there are more entrants expected. It is known that Volkswagen is considering not one but two more powerful versions of Polo. The Polo 1.6 GTD will carry Vento’s 1.6-Liter diesel mill. And the Polo 1.2 TSI which will carry a 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which is capable of producing 103.5PS of power and 175Nm of torque.
We have even caught Polo test mules which are undoubtedly these cars under test. There are other manufacturers which are entering this segment like Fiat with Abarth brand and others. This Liva will not exactly fall in this category but in India, we can take this liberty of mixing them and calling them as one segment products.
