Mercedes has launched the B-Class Sports Tourer MPV in China at the latest Chengdu Motor Show. Currently, Mercedes would import the car and there is no word about any plans for local production.
Engine Options:
Mercedes B-Class in China would come with a 1.6L engine which will have two different tunes
- Mercedes B180 : 122hp, 200Nm
- Mercedes B200: 156hp, 250Nm
B-Class would be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch Automatic Transmission.
B-Class Price:
Mercedes has priced the B-Class in China at
- B180: 278,000 yuan (~24.3 Lakh INR)
- B200: 328,000 yuan (~28.7 Lakh INR)
Mercedes would start delivering the car from next month onwards.
Mercedes B-Class for India
Mercedes has unveiled the B-Class for India in July at Buddh International Circuit. The Sports Tourer would be making its official launch very soon. We expect the prices to hover around the same bracket of 25-30 Lakhs making it the most affordable Mercedes in India, till the A-Class arrives somewhere in 2013.
There is also news of Mercedes working on a 7-seater version of B-Class but that is not coming so early for sure.
