We talk about how hot (or not!) a hatch the 1.6 Polo in India is. China is about to get a much hotter Polo under the name of Polo GTI.
Volkswagen is about to launch the Polo GTI in China which would be powered by a 1.4L turbo petrol mill capable of producing 131hp of power output. In comparison our Indian 1.6L produces 105PS of power output ONLY! The Chinese Polo GTI would be manufactured by Shanghai-Volkswagen.
Interestingly, Volkswagen also sells Polo GTI in Europe which could best be called as a hoot! The European Polo GTI produces an insane 180hp of power output from its 1.4L TSI engine.

The Chinese Volkswagen GTI would start at 170,000 yuan which is approximately Rs 15 Lakh in Indian currency!
Volkswagen is also planning a facelift of Polo in India, test mule of which has already been caught a few days back. The 1.6L Polo is also speculated to get an Automatic Transmission. The Indian facelifted Polo is expected around Diwali.
