With the ever increasing prices of petrol, people have big hopes set on entry level cars based on alternate fuels. While there is an eager wait for TATA’s Nano diesel, which we know is being tested in Pune, Tata has confirmed that the CNG variant would be launched soon.
The word is that the car would be here by this financial year which makes it latest by March 2013 as tweeted by Hormazd Sorabjee from Autocar. What we feel is that TATA might want to launch this car sooner than that so that they can launch the diesel thereafter sometime during the first half of 2013. If you remember, yesterday we have posted a few spy shots of the non-diesel version of the car. There might be chances that these are the CNG variants which TATA is testing.
TATA first displayed the CNG variant at the Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi. The CNG variant will be powered by the same 624cc twin cylinder engine which will run on petrol as well as CNG. How would TATA tune Nano to run on CNG remains to be seen though. The CNG version is expected to be dearer by Rs 15,000 to 20,000 on the current price of Nano petrol.
