SPIED: Upcoming XUV500 Sportz Special Edition; Looks Tacky!

It has become apparent that Mahindra is working on a special edition version of their popular SUV the XUV 500. In the new spyshots which has appeared online at Team-BHP.com, this appears to be just a cosmetic enhancement and will not get any mechanical or engine related changes.

It gets a decal job which reads ‘Sportz’ and hence may be called as XUV500 Sportz Edition, although there appears nothing really sporty about it. The C-pillar also gets a Harry Potter’s scar inspired S emblem. The door handles get red background and the alloy wheels some red patches here and there.

The roof rails are maroonish-red coloured. The bonnet and the rear view mirrors also get similar decal job which fails to excite. The rear tail gate also gets a red patch which consumes the Mahindra logo, with a Sportz badging below the XUV 5oo label.

The bigger change, however, is to the interiors. Against the beige interiors the regular XUV500 comes with, this Special Edition is available in black interiors. It also gets a reverse parking camera which is immensely helpful on XUV considering its bad rear visibility.

To combat growing competition, Mahindra has resorted to these limited editions. We have already seen Scorpio Limited Editions on our roads and the concentration, it appears, shifts to the flagship. Mahindra is also planning to launch a facelift and an automatic XUV500 with more power but they are coming sometime next year.
