Barely a couple of days back, we shared with you Tata’s plans of launching a new Nano variant with power steering. At that time, we were uncertain about two things – date of launch as well as the variants it will spawn.
Now, Autocar has come to the rescue and has revealed all the details which were unknown to us. Here are all the answers you and we were waiting for:
- For the first time Nano will come with a power steering
- Nano with power steering will be called as Nano Twist
- Nano Twist will be an independent variant which will sit over the current Nano’s top variant LX
- Launch of Nano Twist is scheduled for 15th January 2014
The power steering is developed by ZF and Autocar predicts a Rs 15,000 increase on the ex-showroom price of the Nano LX which means it may sell at Rs 2.4 Lakhs ex-showroom. This also means that we can expect a similar treatment to the latest launched eMAX CNG variant.
This will definitely solve your complaints of heavy steering and we expect the ZF-sourced power steering to make Nano an ideal city twiddling car.
However, the good news ends here! According to the report, Nano Twist will only come with this (significant) change and in case you were waiting for an openable rear hatch, you will have to wait further for the Nano diesel, which is believed to be coming by March 2014 and with an openable hatch, at least that is what the spyshots suggest!
Bit by bit, Tata is loading Nano with the requisite features it lacked, however, a complete brand makeover is what is needed and we hope the potent Nano starts selling in respectable numbers.
