Quanto Facelift with Air Scoop Spotted; Launch Later This Year

Mahindra is trying to add curves and muscle to their Quanto at the same time. At least this is what appears from the spy pics that are surfacing now.

In its latest online appearance, credit MotorOctane, the Quanto facelift carries an air scoop on the bonnet and we can also feel that the front is slightly rounded under that hiding cloth.

The spy pics also reveal the redesigned grille. The overall front is expected to go through a badly-needed makeover with fresher head lamps, fog lamps and bumper. The tail lamps do look similar to the present version but we are sure they will also be modified before the new version goes in to production.

The interiors are also expected to become more upmarket and parts sharing with higher models (not Xylo please!) is expected. We expect better quality, touch and feel, and a redesigned dashboard along with additional features. In terms of mechanicals, the suspension is expected to be tweaked to make the ride comfortable on this tall-boy!

The engine will surely continue to be the same 1.5 litre mCR100 diesel mill which currently produces 100 bhp of power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque in the range of 1,600 rpm to 2,800 rpm. But we hope to see it more free revving and responsive to liberate whole of those 100 horses. Transmission options are also expected to include an AMT option (which has also been spied) along with the regular 5 speed manual.

The sub 4 meter Quanto is a portrayed as a smaller Xylo but has not done wonders to its sales volumes (and nor has Xylo!). With the oncoming breed of sub 4 meters from Mahindra, Quanto will be expected to continue doing its duty with the rest of the lot taking up the challenge. Launch is expected sometime later this year…
