Very recently Ssangyong world premiered the Next-Gen Rodius MPV at the Geneva Motor Show. From being one of the ugliest vehicles on this mother earth, Rodius has become smarter and better looking in its new avatar.
When Rodius was unveiled Anand Mahindra did share his happiness and hinted at its Indian innings on twitter. Now, in an interesting scoop, a Team-Bhp forum member //M has shared pictures of an uncamouflaged Ssangyong Rodius inside the premises of Mahindra’s facility at Kandivali in Mumbai. The car carried temporary registration of MH-46 which corresponds to Panvel.
New Rodius is powered by a 4 cylinder 2.0L diesel engine capable of producing 155PS and 360Nm of torque and a 3.2L 6 cylinder petrol engine which produces peak power of 220PS and maximum torque of 312Nm. These engines are mated to a 5 Speed Automatic gearbox while there is also an option of a 6 speed manual with the diesel Rodius. This big MPV tips the weighing scale at 2850kgs for the top variant. Ssangyong claims a top speed of 181kmph for the diesel version and 191kmph for the petrol Rodius.
Rodius does make an interesting prospect here in India, if Mahindra is really considering launching it here. Rodius is large and has an optional seating capacity of as large as 11 passengers. While these spyshots do not reveal which variant is this, but it appears that Mahindra will launch the 11-seater option only in India. This will give them a better leeway and a proper positioning in the market.
If and when Rodius is launched in India, it will join its sibling Rexton in India. Let’s wait for more developments on this very interesting beginning!
