Apollo Launches AWL 822 & ATL 188 TX: New Tyres for Mining Industry

Apollo Tyres, the world’s 17th largest tyre manufacturer and one of India’s biggest tyre maker has launched the AWL 822, the largest loader tyre produced in India. The launch was carried out in the 12th International Mining and Machinery Exhibition 2014 in Kolkata, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries and also saw the launch of ALT 188 TX with industry’s first traction tread design.

The newly launched AWL 822 is meant for loaders and dozers in high abrasion condition which can damage any normal tyre. It is made up of 1,300 kg of rubber, 700 kg Carbon black and Silica, 200 kg Nylon Fabric and 300 kg of other rubber based chemicals. Available in a size of 45/65-45 L5, the tire boasts of a special tread design and is embedded with stone ejectors aiming to provide maximum protection to increase the life of the tyre. Trouble free service is further complimented by side protector for enhanced resistance on shoulder and sidewall cuts.

ALT 188 TX is a distinctive and advanced traction tread design technology, introduced in bias construction segment for slurry and muddy conditions. The tyre has a customized tread compound which provides excellent performance in the ever changing conditions of a mine. It gets wider grooves towards the shoulder reducing the chances of stone entrapment and superior and enduring carcass for high load carrying capacity along with exceptional structural stability under extreme conditions.

Apollo Tyres will be curing these newly launched tyres at their second manufacturing plant at Limda, Gujarat, which claims to have one of the biggest curing presses available in Southeast Asia. Apart from Limda, the Gurgaon based company also has two other manufacturing plants at Peramba and Kalamassery in Kerela and one in Chennai.

Apart from this the company will also have a plant operational in Hungary by 2017 where they would be manufacturing tyres for car, light truck and heavy commercial vehicles. They also own a Netherland based tyre maker Vredestein Banden BV, a 100 year old brand.
