Mercedes is planning to take the Indian market by storm and announce loud and clear that they are here to stay! They have already shown aggressive intents and now plans to go compact.
According to Economic Times, Mercedes will launch the following products in the Indian market during the coarse of time.
- B-Class diesel
- GL-Class SUV
- A-Class
- GLA Compact SUV
- 4-Door Coupe CLA
The B-Class is already present in the Indian market but only in petrol. Mercedes will add a diesel to the lineup to make it a more luring prospect. The GL-Class is launching on 16th May in India and as you can see, it is the only big car in this list. Mercedes will also launch the A-Class luxury hatchback in India on 30th May and has already started with its promotions.
Apart from these three models that are coming very soon, Mercedes also has plans to launch two fantastic compact models – GLA Compact SUV as well as the CLA sedan. GLA compact SUV is based on the same front wheel drive MFA platform which underpins the A-Class and B-Class.
It will go against BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in the Indian market and will try to snatch a part of their share apiece. CLA is a sedan version of A-Class and will sit below the C-class in India. It shares a lot of stuff with A-Class including the refreshing mean looks.
All these models will be imported as CBUs to gain the first mover advantage. And later on, depending upon the demand and conditions they might be produced here locally. So, if you fall on the borderline of Rs 25 Lakh, get ready to be pampered with a plethora of choices in the Indian luxury car market.
