MotorBash Reader Snaps Upcoming New Santa Fe; Launch on 6 Feb

Along with the New sub 4-meter Grand i10 Sedan, Hyundai’s next shot in the arm is this New Santa Fe. Hyundai has been rigorously testing it for at least around a year and it seems these are the final-stage prototypes that are undergoing verifications and validations.

These two spy pics of the rear of the New Santa Fe were shared by a couple of our readers, Giridhar Radhakrishnan and Anand Kumar who spotted this mule on the Bangalore highway. They also tell us that there was a Grand i10 with temporary number plates following this Santa Fe (Grand i10 Diesel Automatic?).

It will not be long before Hyundai will unleash this premium mid-sized SUV in our markets. According to an earlier report, Hyundai will launch the new Santa Fe on 06th February at the Noida Auto Expo 2014. Moreover, Hyundai is damn serious this time and intends to take the segment leader, Fortuner down and has real aggressive plans for that. For the same, Hyundai is targeting high localization assembly and hence a very attractive price tag to lure the majority.

This new Santa Fe will continue to be propelled by the 2.2L VGT diesel mill which churns out 197PS of power output and 420Nm of torque (which is already higher than Fortuner). We expect the SUV to carry minor improvements to the driveability along with better fuel efficiency.

As we have analyzed earlier, new Santa Fe may start at an ex-showroom Delhi price between 20-22 Lakhs, down from its current 23.6 Lakhs. And all the typical Hyundai’s truckloads of features and gadgetry is a given. So, if you are about to hit the Toyota showroom with your cheque book, we suggest you wait for a month!
