Leaked: Upcoming Polo Facelift’s Engine Details Revealed!

The new Volkswagen Polo facelift is slated to be launched on the 15 of June, 2014. But almost a week before the launch, CarSizzler.com has leaked the engine specifications of the upcoming car, thanks to an information leaflet.

While the petrol engine will remain the same 1.2L, the diesel will be the new 1.5L TDi. Here are the complete details:

1. Polo TDi 1.5L: In the normal tune the VGT turbo engine will produce 90PS of maximum power @4200rpm and 230Nm of peak torque in the range of 1500 to 2500 rpm. The car claims of a flat torque curve, great acceleration. At the same time it claims to have great fuel efficiency with lower emissions.

2. Polo 1.2L MPI petrol: With a maximum power of 75PS @5400rpm and peak torque of 110Nm, coming out @3750rpm, the 1.2L 3-cylinder engine is the same as the older Polo petrol.

3. Polo GT 1.2L TSI petrol: The turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine will also continue being on offer on the GT version. It produces 105PS of maximum power @5000rpm and a fantastic torque of 175Nm in the range of 1500 to 4100rpm. The Polo GT TSI will continue with the 7 speed DSG automatic transmission. Safety features include ESP (Engine Stabilisation Programme) and Hill Hold Control.

4. Polo GT 1.5L TDI: The diesel Polo GT will also get the new 1.5L diesel mill but it will get the higher tuned version. On the GT TDI, it will produce 105PS of power @4400rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500 to 2500rpm.

5. Cross Polo: The Cross Polo, a crossover hatchback based on the Polo will also get the new engine but in the lower 90PS trim.

So, its only the diesel mills that have been kicked out and in comes the new diesel engine in two tunes to do duties. Nice nice.. let’s see when do we get to drive the car…
