The new Prime Minister in his Independence Day Speech requested multinational companies to make India their manufacturing centre and export nucleus.
Nissan had a paltry market share in India so far but of late, they appear to have risen from slumber and are engaging better with the customers. Along with that, they launched their budget brand Datsun in India and has a few product launches lined up from its own stables.
It has become a widespread policy by automakers to launch newer-gen updated models as premium versions and reposition the existing models as entry level variants.
Nissan broadened the Micra offerings in India by adding the Micra facelift and rebranding the existing Micra as Micra Active in July this year. While the Micra Active has been limited to only the petrol motor, the new Micra comes with a petrol as well as a diesel engine.
