Mercedes showcased its CLA 45 AMG in India for the first time at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The CLA 45AMG is claimed to be the country’s first compact performance sedan. It was recently spotted on the streets of Mumbai first time ever by a reader of Indianautosblog.com.
The 2.0L twin-scroll turbo with BorgWarner turbocharger produces a mind boggling 360PS of raw power and 450Nm of peak torque. All of these by just a four-cylinder motor! Holy cow! AMG at its best! A 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive, standard AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed transmission with paddle shifters, AMG sports suspension with independently developed front and rear axles, electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, AMG high-performance braking system, 3-stage ESP are some of the many features which AMG has added to make this sedan a beast, a wild one at that!
The top speed has been electronically limited to 250 kmph and the tiny monster hits the ton in 4.6 second, that’s faster than the time you needed to read this sentence!
The highly sculpted front looks brilliant and is incredibly streamlined and has an incredibly low drag coefficient. The muscular rear is well coupled with the twin blade front grille and a gigantic Mercedes Benz logo embossed on it adds to the premium look. 18 inches wheels with red callipers further enhance that evil look. The interiors have a powerful black theme. Standard AMG performance seats, red seat belts, red illumination of the twin barrelled instrumentation cluster, the sporty steering wheel and jet engine inspired air con vents carry an aura of wickedness.
AMG sports exhaust system with twin rectangular chrome-plated tail pipes not only are a visual treat but produce a growl which will signal the onset of a thunderstorm! The powerful headlamp cluster, frameless windows and high belt line creates a strong profile.
Mercedes is expected to launch the CLA 45 AMG by July and will be priced at a premium considering the fact that it will be imported into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). And if you are waiting for the regular CLA, that is also coming to us sometime this year.
