We are unsure with what mindset did Maruti launch Ritz in India. Did they want a Swift beater/replacer in sales or they were just looking at a Swift complementer. Whatever it was, Ritz has been doing a fantastic job of complementing the brisk seller Swift for all these years.
The Ritz is currently available in the form of 7 variants. It provides a choice of two engine options; one being a 1.2 liter K-Series Petrol mill that churns out 87 PS of peak power and transfers 114 Nm of peak torque to the front wheels. The other option is the 1.3 liter FIAT Multijet Turbo Diesel motor which manages a peak power of 75PS and whips up an orgasmic 190 Nm of peak torque.
The 5 speed manual gearbox is available as standard, but a 4 speed automatic gearbox is also offered as an option on the petrol engined Ritz. ABS+EBD and twin airbags are standard on the top end (ZXi and ZDi) variants of the Ritz while the mid-variants (VXi and VDi) can be specified with ABS+EBD. However, with the current downturn, like other cars, Ritz is also facing the same fate of lower sales. And to keep the car in the headlines and in people’s eyes, Maruti has decided to go for an archetypal “Botox Shot”, ie a limited edition model called as Ritz @Buzz.
This new model receives 12 new features, though we are not quite sure about which variants of the existing Ritz will receive this treatment.
New Features of Ritz @Buzz
The Interiors –
- 2-DIN stereo system with Bluetooth and USB features
- 6 inch speakers
- Reverse parking sensors
- Art (synthetic) leather seat covers
- Rear parcel tray
- Steering wheel cover
- Floor mats (More durable than the earlier ones according to Maruti-Suzuki)
- Door sill guards
The Exteriors –
- *New body graphics on its flanks
- *Bumper protectors
- *Door visors
- *Mud flaps (Again, more durable to withstand harsh Indian conditions, as claimed by Maruti-Suzuki)
It is a typical Maruti-Suzuki ploy to push up the sales of their underperforming models. Infact, Ritz was upgraded last year with changes on the exterior and new additions in the interiors.
Maruti-Suzuki website has listed all these features of the new Ritz @Buzz. However, there is no word on the prices yet. Do keep tuned to us for the updates on the Ritz @Buzz.
