With every new car introduction, Honda has a particular (set of) car in sight. With the Amaze, they targeted the Dzire, with the City they had Verna in cross heirs and now, with the upcoming Mobilio MPV, all attention is on Ertiga.
Like what they did with the Amaze, Honda is expected to price the Mobilio right under the throat of Ertiga to get traction and snatch some market. Against the Amaze-Dzire scenario where Amaze increased the overall compact sedan market, chances are high that Mobilio and Ertiga may overlap a large share of the MPV segment.
Considering this, we believe, Honda may start Mobilio’s prices at around Rs 5.99 Lacs for the petrol base variant. These would be about Rs 20,000 over Ertiga LXi. For the diesel Mobilio, prices may start at around Rs 7.49 Lakhs against Ertiga LDi’s Rs 7.22 Lacs. All prices are our prediction and ex-showroom Delhi.
Honda will justify the slightly higher price with larger engine for both petrol and diesel options along with some other feature bits. But, the major assault will come with Honda promoting the fantastic fuel efficiency figures (for diesel) which are expected to be the highest for any MPV in the country.
Mobilio will be launched later this month and Honda has officially started bookings of the 7-seater MPV. You can pre-book your car for Rs 50,000 to be the first ones to drive it along with your family.
Honda has been promoting the car aggressively and has released a few promo videos with ace comedian Kapil Sharma. The company has also launched a new video which will most probably go on to become the official TVC for television channels. The ad focuses on the interior space as well as the mileage part of Mobilio. Here it is…
