Buoyed by the launch of Brio Automatic, Maruti Suzuki is also preparing an Automatic version of Ritz. The new Ritz AT would be launched in its new facelifted look. What has left us a little bamboozled is the fact that why is Maruti playing so silently? They slipped-in the facelifted petrol variant without any press release or hype. Now, suddenly we start seeing the details of the Automatic version on its official website.
Previously, the facelifted Ritz were launched in diesel variants only and the Ritz Automatic will be available in Petrol Only option and with VXi trim only. To make the competition tougher, Maruti Suzuki has introduced its second automatic small car.
The Ritz Automatic is expected to be priced competitively to counter the likes of the Brio Automatic. Ritz Automatic will be powered by the same 1.2-Liter 4-Cylinder KB12 Petrol Engine that churns out 87 PS of power @ 6,000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 4-Speed Automatic Gearbox. This setup returns a fuel efficiency of 18.5 KMPL on the manual version. The Automatic version is rated at 17.16kmpl (Both ARAI Certified figures). FE of Ritz AT is better than Brio (16.5 kmpl) and i10 1.2 AT (16.67 kmpl).
Unlike the regular VXi and VDi trim, the VXi Automatic trim will have ABS as a standard fitment. Besides, all the 52 changes that were made in the New Facelifted Ritz, will be available with the Ritz Automatic.
When we contacted a local dealer about Ritz Automatic, he had no clue about it. Would Maruti slip this in ‘oh-so-silently’ like the Petrol version? What would be the price increase? Let us wait for an official confirmation.
