Jeep has been photographed road-testing its entry-level SUV yet again by Autoevolution.com but this time there are more details and a confirmation unlike the last last spotting. Like last time the vehicle was thoroughly covered up but it showed its interior bits as well.
Apparently, the vehicle was stationary and the photographers had a free hand with their cameras, for now we have a shot of the car’s dash and steering. And you can see the bulged up taped ‘JEEP’ logo at the steering wheel which confirms that this is the baby Jeep which has been speculated to be called as ‘Jeepster’.
Very little could be said as regards the looks of the vehicle underneath the camo. The overall shape is boxy to optimize the space inside for occupants. The square theme has been maintained in the design of headlight nacelle and tail lights pretty much like the Jeep Compass. The test mule, it seems, has the signature Jeep seven-slot grille and rear skirt is flared up giving the vehicle a bold, muscular profile.
The single shot of the interior shows the steering wheel straight out of the Compass and the dash has been thoroughly covered up to reveal anything. Could it be that Jeep is planning to introduce a shrunken up version of Compass?
It is expected that the new Jeepster could have the Fiat 500L sourced 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo with 105 hp, a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo with 160 hp, or a 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbodiesel with 105 hp. In India however, Jeep has confirmed that their B-segment SUV will sport the 114ps 207Nm 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine from the Linea T-jet and the 105bhp 1.6L Multijet motor that will first debut on the Linea facelift slated for a launch very soon.
As reported earlier, Jeep is planning to launch the compact SUV some time in 2015 in India. The price could be somewhere around INR 15-18 lacs.
