BMW i8 is one of the most gorgeous cars we have seen coming from the German’s stables of late, for this incredibly practical car might just be what supercars will be like in the future.
The i8 is the production version of the Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics (remember Mission Impossible 4?) and was shown at the Delhi Auto Expo in February. As per a report published in Autocar, the Bavarian giants have started delivering the first units of the i8 to the customers.
Eight units of the i8 were given to the customers during a ceremony hosted for the occasion by BMW. The i8 is powered by 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine which produces 231PS of power and 320Nm of torque, and an electric heart which produces 131PS of power and 250Nm of torque. Giving it a combined power figure of 362PS of power and a respectable 570Nm of peak torque, it sure does have the potential, on paper, to be labelled as the supercar of the future.
The car boasts of an amazing fuel consumption figure of just 2.1L of petrol for 100kms (under test conditions)! The i8 seems to be an ultra-practical car for the future and till the time we have flying DeLoreans the i8 is all set to rule our hearts.
The German giants are also going to sell the i8 in the US from July and have also started taking orders in Japan. India will also get its share of fun and the i8 is scheduled to go on sale from December. It is expected to be priced at around 1.6 crore rupees, but because of the high global demand, India will get just 6 units for sale in the first year of its launch while the second year will see it rise to 25 units.
And BTW, this BMW hits the ton in just 4.4 seconds and the top speed has been electronically limited to 250kmph.
